Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? Activities

Now days we are trying to read a book and do some kind of craft associated with that book. We are also revisiting CJ favorite Books. We made two activities to go along with the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? My First Reader

Activity 1: We tried to create a display like the below page from the book

Materials Used:
Clear plastic Sheet(Toy Package, Dress)
Permanent Marker
Paint or Markers
Child Safe Scissors
Glue

Steps Overview:

I traced the images of the animals by placing the clear plastic over the page. Because CJ found it difficult to add the detail.

Then I cut the images of the animals and let CJ to color it. We used dry erase markers. But it is better to use permanent markers or acrylic paint.

After the animals and the teacher images were created, We glued them to a recycled cardboard box in the order - Brown bear, Brown bear what do you see, I see a Red bird looking at me...... Finally I see a Teacher looking at me.

Activity 2: Paper Collage Stick Puppets

Materials Used:
Popsicle sticks
Magazines
Child Safe scissors
Markers
Glue/Mod Podge

Steps Overview:

I did a freehand drawing of the animals(you can make it out from the horse. The face looks like dinosaur). You can also get the templates of the animals from dltk site - Brown bear. Then we made paper collage animals similar to the book. After the paper collage dried, we cut them and glued the animals to Popsicle sticks. Stick puppets ready to play.

The purple cat is my favorite and the red bird is CJ's favorite. She got a baby bird for her Tissue paper box bird.
