Shape Collage: My Family

Shape collages are our all time favorite. We tried making a family picture collage using shapes.
Shape Collage

Book - Shape Capers

We first stumbled on this book about 2 years ago when CJ was 2 year old. We loved the book and created Outer space and Dragon fly collages. If you want to know more about the book, please visit my other blog - kidobook(Books I read to my kid)

We played around Picnik software to create template of the family collage using shapes. I made CJ sit next to computer and she gave directions on what type of shape/color for the costumes(whether she wants triangles, squares) and Hairstyle. She had great fun deciding the hairstyles. She gave instructions like mommy that hairstyle is so funny for you, change it; I don't want daddy to have that hairstyle.

If you need a tutorial on how to create the image using picnik, Please let me know I will be glad to share!

Shape collage template

I took printout of the image. Using the image as template we created the collage.

Finally we laminated the collage so that it can treasured. Yeah we got a new laminating machine!

  3. Aaaah that is so cute! And I bet it gives the little ones a real sense of achievement to make the whole family (my son sometimes gets very frustrated mid-drawing...)
