Rolling corn prints

We got Creativity for Kids Finger Prints from the Borders store closing sale. I got it mainly for the paint roller and the monoprint. CJ loved the idea of finger painting and transferring the print to a paper with the paint roller.

I saw this idea of rolling pin and bubble sheet art over at Play based learning blog. For a different texture, we used an ear of corn instead of rolling pin and bubble sheet. This is a fun project to explore texture and color mixing.
Rolling Corn prints

Materials: Finger-paint/Washable paint, paper, an ear of corn, Kebab sticks/Bamboo skewer - 2nos

Steps overview:

Cut an ear of corn to 3 to 4 inches size. Insert the bamboo skewers on either side as shown below, easier to hold like a rolling pin.

Let your kid play with the finger paint on a paper/ plastic sheet. Roll the ear of corn in the paint as shown below. We got some corns prints here.

Then roll onto a new paper just like using rolling pin

We made some prints by rolling the corn down the slide, since playing with slide and paint is hit @our home - the car slide painting and the kool-aid ice cube melting.
