Egg carton christmas tree art

We reuse/upcycle Styrofoam egg carton as stamps. CJ loves the pattern it makes and we had used egg carton stamps for painting the life cycle of Butterfly. This time we made Christmas tree art using egg carton cutouts as stamps.
Egg carton stamping: Christmas Tree Art

Materials Used:

Poster board
Styrofoam Egg Carton
Tempera paint
Tri-beads
Styrofoam tray for mixing paint
White Oil pastel(for snowflakes)
Child safe scissors
Glue

Steps Overview:

We made Oil Pastel resist snowflake painting for the backdrop

I gave CJ a white oil pastel and she drew simple snowflakes, snow covered ground.

Painted the whole scene with a mixture of blue and grey paint using a scotch brite sponge

CJ loved the idea of the magically appearing snow flakes.

Christmas Tree:
We cut the Egg carton into rows containing 6,5,4,3,2,1.

Paint the egg carton/dip the egg carton cutouts in paint and stamp in the order 6,5,4,3,2,1 to get a Christmas tree structure.

It makes a beautiful pattern. We had great fun counting down and added math fun of counting the dots.

After completing the tree structure. Cut a egg carton with 2 and we stamped the tree trunk using brown paint.

Using single egg carton, we made a star on top of the Christmas tree!

We glued Tri-bead pretend lights!

I added snowy effect to the picture using picmonkey
